ALPINE SERIES QUALIFIERS + CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
The jewel in the crown of the SSSA year is the annual Alpine Series Qualifiers and Championship FINALS. These fantastic alpine race events are held at mountain ski centres around Scotland and the event comprises 5 regional primary and secondary school qualifying ski races held at Nevis, Glencoe, Glenshee, Cairngorm and the Lecht, with finals planned for this season at Glenshee.
All events are timed combi, slalom or giant slalom races in real alpine conditions and winners from each regional qualifier event can then progress onto the SSSA Alpine Championship finals held in March.
Designed for all levels of skier this series offers pupils the opportunity to try competing on real snow in the mountain environment. All competitors get 2 timed runs, the best of which determines their individual ranking in their own gender and year level category.
Schools can enter any number of teams comprising anything up to 4 racers from any category. School teams are then ranked using the fastest 3 competitors times combined. We accept and encourage entries from pupils with disabilities and additional support needs.
The SSSA Alpine Series provides a fantastic opportunity for schools to participate in ski racing on snow. Each year the event attracts around 1000 primary and secondary pupils, so please be quick with your school entry to avoid disappointment.
